Lake Tahoe is a well-known and well-loved destination for skiers and riders from all over and is categorized into seven resorts, each offering a unique experience on the slopes.

Not only is Lake Tahoe a great winter trip, but there are also many summer activities to experience during the warmer months. These programs, along with other activity packages give visitors access to biking and hiking trails! As the scenery changes with the season, the area takes on a whole new kind of beauty.

  • Squaw Valley

    Voted at North America’s best ski resort in 2016 and host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, the Squaw Valley legacy has maintained a vibrant ski culture and mountain energy that spans from village to peak. Its spirit of outdoor adventure is reflected by the views of Lake Tahoe’s translucent waters, and its inspiration is carved into the slopes of the Sierra mountains. Beginners will find forgiving learning zones set among dramatic alpine scenery, while varied trails, bowls and chutes mean that skiers and snowboarders will never outgrow Squaw’s progressive terrain. With consistent snowfall that stays around well into the spring, Squaw Valley boasts one of the longest ski and snowboard seasons in the country.

  • Alpine Meadows

    Tucked between Truckee and Tahoe City, Alpine Meadows Resort is a picturesque playground for families and off-the-radar thrill-seekers alike. Chalet-style lodges and approachable hospitality mean that the skiing and riding experience always comes first. From easy-riding progression parks to wide-open bowls, Alpine Meadows brings an exciting challenge to any level of skier or snowboarder.   • Homewood

    Located steps from the shoreline of Lake Tahoe, Homewood Mountain Resort combines pristine skiing and snowboarding with an unobstructed view of Lake Tahoe from every slope in the winter with summertime bicycle, kayak and paddleboard rentals with lakefront access to Tahoe via Homewood’s West Shore Cafe and Inn during the summer. Homewood, California is situated approximately 6 miles south of Tahoe City on State Route 89. Known to locals as a hidden gem of a town and ski resort, visitors have their choice of lake-focused summertime activities and mountain-focused wintertime fun.

  • Kirkwood

    Magical, raw, expansive and remote, Kirkwood is the stuff of legend. With the deepest, driest snow around and some of North America’s most diverse and challenging terrain, Kirkwood offers big mountain riding with small town attitude. Tucked away about 35 miles southwest of South Lake Tahoe, Kirkwood is out of the way but the reward is well worth the effort of finding it.

    Our unique location atop the Sierra Crest combined with elevations ranging 7,800 to 9,800 feet create a little something we like to call the K-Factor – a geographical predisposition to receive the lightest, the driest, and the most plentiful snow in the Tahoe region. With 2000 feet of vertical drop, and over 2300 acres of terrain from calm groomed beginner runs to hair raising cornices, cliffs and the most high angle grooming around, there’s something for everyone at the ‘Wood.

  • Sugar Bowl

    Perched atop Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl Resort has been family owned since the beginning in 1939. While visiting Sugar Bowl much of the historic charm is still maintained within the modern resort. Touches of Austrian character and Bavarian stylings provide a glimpse into Hannes Schroll’s and other founder’s vision for this unique mountain.

  • Boreal

    Located on Interstate 80 along Lake Tahoe, Boreal Mountain Resort is one of the easiest resorts to access from Northern California and Nevada. Boasting almost 80% snowmaking coverage, Boreal is one of the first Lake Tahoe resorts to open each winter. The mountain averages 400 inches of snowfall per season alongside 240 days of sunshine a year.
