Ceramics: Beginner and Intermediate Wheel Throwing and Handbuilding

Event Description: This is a great introduction course to ceramic wheel throwing and hand building or a brush up course for people that have been away for a while. This course is for anyone who wants to learn or join us and get their hands dirty with some clay! This course is designed for those who can’t commit to a full workshop series. People who join will be working on different skills, which depends on your experience.  The class is an open studio format with an instructor on site to teach and guide people as needed, and suggested projects to help you on your creative path.

Paint Pouring

Event Description: Let go in this paint pouring workshop with Carole Sesko. During this class participants will experiment with acrylic paints without the uses of brushes! We’ll work toward achieving multiple abstract, marbleized, even faux-encaustic pieces. This class will cover multiple paint pouring and material use techniques and includes the use of a blow torch. All materials are included.

Full Moon Snowshoe Tour – Pink Moon

Event Description: We will meet your group and preview the trip.  Time will be spent fitting gear and a comprehensive lesson will be covered.  You will trek on our easy to use snowshoes through Tahoe’s peaceful, wintry forest.  As we travel by moonlight, our knowledgeable guides will discuss Natural History and Astronomy topics as well as fascinating facts about our moon.  We will also stop under the moon or in the alpenglow to take in the beautiful views and enjoy snacks and hot drinks!  This unique trip is popular with all levels of nature enthusiasts.  Be sure to grab your cameras, as the views are spectacular!

Sagan Fondo Cycling Event & Festival

Event Description:The Sagan Fondo Cycling Event and Festival comes to Truckee May 3-5, 2018! Watch or ride in the exciting fondo cycling race designed for all-levels of inspiring athletes. Bring family and friends to experience a fun festival that is FREE and open to the public of all-ages! Enjoy LIVE MUSIC, BEER, LOCAL FOOD, and VENDOR EXPO!  Plus, don’t miss the opportunity to see and meet CELEBRITY RIDERS featuring 3-time World Champion cyclist Peter Sagan, World Downhill Champion Loic Bruni and Enduro World Series champion Sam Hill!For the race, choose three routes that feature 68, 59, and 23-mile distances over a combination of dirt and pavement with beautiful mountain scenery through alpine valleys. Participants should expect traffic-controlled intersections, on-bike marshals, moto officials, food stations and SAG providing rider support. Spaces will be limited to the first 1,500 registrants, with competitive categories and awards for the top three riders in 12 total age and gender groups.​ A cyclo-cross bike or hard-tail mountain bike is recommended.

Lord’s Gym Mud Run 2018

Peaks and Paws

Event Description: The Village at Squaw Valley is paying tribute to man – and woman’s – best friend with the 8th Annual Peaks and Paws Festival Saturday and Sunday, June 16 & 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dogs and their Masters can enjoy live music, delicious food, and wine and beer tasting (people only!) amid Squaw’s stunning mountain setting. The all-day event also boasts dog-friendly guided hikes. All of the proceeds from the festival will benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.

Cheese Making

Date: July 1, 2018

Event Description: Restaurant Trokay and Atelier are pairing up again to bring back their cheese making course this summer. Join them for an educational culinary adventure. This workshop will be taught by Restaurant Trokay owner Nyna Weatherson, former head cheesemonger at the world famous Greenwich Village cheese shop, Murray’s. Weatherson will pass on her vast knowledge of cheese and skill guiding students through the mozzarella making process. Students will make their very own batch of mozzarella, all while enjoying a glass of a perfectly paired draft brew. Each person will leave with their own batch of fresh mozzarella, tasting notes, and the know-how to create the cheese again for their friends and family. All supplies included. This workshop will be held upstairs at Restaurant Trokay.

Alpen Wine Fest

Event Description: Join Squaw Valley September 2nd from 2-5 p.m. for the 30th Annual Alpen Wine Fest that includes wine tasting, live music, a silent auction, and a raffle. Tickets are available in advance for $40 or $50 day of the event. All proceeds benefit Can Do MS, a foundation providing wellness and education for people with Multiple Sclerosis. With the donation, attendees receive a crystal souvenir wine glass and tastings from over 40 vineyards.
